I am an overseas investor. I found Easyown while surfing the internet, which is always cause for caution, but in this case I should have kicked up my heels! From the moment I set foot on New Zealand soil, Steph from Easyown was there to assist me – even taking time out from her family holiday for our initial meeting. She introduced me to a fantastic support team consisting of a mortgage broker, lawyer, accountant, and property management company - essential when you are not local, and had found a great house for me within a month of our first meeting. One month later I had the deeds to the property in my hand. Three weeks after that I approved a family to move in, and the tenancy has been running smoothly ever since.
But this was not what impressed me most. What really impressed me was the care Steph took to ensure that the property would be practically maintenance free, and that it would be making money for me from the start. She was able to put together a full set of figures, making sure that the rent would cover not only the mortgage, but the rates, insurance and property management, as well as being in an area that is set to rise in value over the coming months and years. This kind of information might not be quite so vital to local buyers, but for the foreign investor it is key, especially if you do not have a huge deposit to begin with.
It should be noted that I was only in New Zealand for a week, and apart from the initial meeting with my, now valued support network, everything has been conducted via email. I am now preparing to invest in my second rental property, and this time I feel secure in the fact that I don’t even have to visit New Zealand to buy. Because of Easyown, everyone is in place and after agreeing on the next purchase, which I will view through property brochures, photos and survey property reports, as well as chatting to Steph on the phone; the transaction will only require my signature delivered by post!
